Lecrin Valley of Southern Spain

The Lecrin and its neighbouring valley of Las Guajares both offer walking through lush groves of citrus where it is possible to pick oranges straight off the tree for a quick refreshing snack. The valleys have a near tropical climate allowing year round walking.and are bound by high narrow ridges often topped with Moorish ruins or Christian chapels. These ridges provide great routes along their narrow crests high above the surrounding areas. Both valleys are at their most scenic during the spring flowering of the fruit trees though with their mild climate they are ideal for walking at any time of the year.
Activities here include:-
Ridge walking and scrambling around Geralda the ‘volcanic’ peak above both valleys
The exploration of Moorish castles and ruins.
Gentle walks through fruit groves of the area.
Long distance paths such as GR7/GR240 and Sulyar
